Agribusiness

With nearly 66% of the county's land being used for farming, it comes as no surprise that agriculture is one of the top industries in the county - producing over $73M in revenue per year.

What our land and labor produce

County farming operations provide a variety of foods for the consumer markets, such as corn, soybeans, potatoes, green beans and cabbage.    Specialty farming operations within the county involve producers of gourmet sauces, salsas and dips, those who raise bison, fish farms, growers of berries and bottlers of the area's spring water.  There are also a number of nursery operations within the county selling various species of trees, plantings and landcaping materials.

The first of its kind in ohio

Champaign County sits at the northeastern corner of the Miami Valley and is located within a few miles of the highest point in the state of Ohio - Campbell Hill - in Logan County.  A glacial ridge (known by locals as "The Ludlow") runs north to south on the county's mid-eastern side and provides an ideal spot to capture wind energy.  On March 22, 2010 the Ohio Power Siting Board approved an application from EverPower Energy for a commerical wind farm with 50+ wind turbines to be located on several thousand acres in eastern part of the county; the first such commercial wind farm in the State of Ohio.
